Kanchipuram Special Milagu Seeraga Sadham / Pepper Jeera Rice - Lunch box Recipes

Milagu Seeraga Sadham is one of the healthy and tasty traditional variety rice recipe which is offered as prasadham in many ancient temples in Kancheepuram. This authentic rice is easily prepared with freshly ground pepper and cumin. 

Ingredients for making Milagu Seeraga Sadham

1 cup - Raw Rice
1 tsp. - Pepper
1 tsp. - Cumin
Salt as needed

To Season
2 tbsp. - Ghee
1 tsp. - Mustard seeds
1 tsp. - urad dal
1 tsp. Gram dal
2 - Green chillies
10 nos - Cashew nuts
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Milagu Seeraga Sadham

1. Wash the raw rice and soak this in water for 15 minutes. Pressure cook this by adding 2 cups of water for 3 whistles.

2. Heat a kadai and fry the pepper and then ground this along with the jeera. Now add oil and season with the ingredients given under to season.

3. Add the milagu jeeraga podi and the cooked rice along with the required salt and mix well.

Now the tasty Milagu jeera rice is ready to be packed for lunch. Serve this with kutti urulai curry.
