Zarda is a delicious dessert recipe made from rice and some fragrant spices. The aromatic rice dessert is loved by everyone for its comforting taste and flavor. Rice is the major ingredient of the recipe. It is best to keep rice soaked in water for at least 15 minutes before you start making Zarda.

INGREDIENTS


  • 1/4 cup clarified Butter
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp-ground Cardamoms
  • 1/2 tsp-ground Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp-whipping Cream
  • 1/4 tsp-saffron dissolved in 1 tbsp. warm Milk
  • 2 tbsps-cashew nuts
  • 1 tbsp-pistachio nuts
  • 2 tsp-pure Ghee
  • 1.5-cups Rice
  • 1 and 3/4th cups water
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Pinch of salt

  • HOW TO MAKE ZARDA (SWEET RICE):

    1. Heat 1/4 cup butter and fry cardamom and cinnamon for a minute or two
    2. Add rice and fry for 2 to 3 minutes
    3. Bring water to a boil. Add rice, stir and cover tightly
    4. When rice is half done, add milk, salt and sugar
    5. Cover and continue cooking
    6. When rice is done, mix in the whipping cream and saffron dissolved in the milk
    7. Saute the nuts in 2 tsp. ghee and garnish with rice
